for quite some time now, ive been really drawn to classic, english country homes and decor..there's something so cozy and inviting in it all, yet they're still tailored and full of rich tradition and details..it's the style of home that will never let you down...the type of home that will always feel like home...

photo source: here the older i get, the more i seem to be drawn to warm, rustic, well-worn, and cozier kitchens for my own home...i still love and appreciate clean and modern, but something about well-worn kitchens make it feel more like home and family...the tendency is to think of rustic kitchens to be kitchy, cluttered, and to farm-like...but there are definite ways to have a cozy/rustic space, while still being completely chic and sophisticated...the kitchen above, designed by axel vervoordt, is beyond stunning...note the mix of metals, marble counter, open shelving, rustic table, and large-scale antique armoire -with a splash of color on the inside...the lighter woods keep the space bright..
lately, ...i've been finding myself feeling restless, or what my husband would call having an, "itchy heart" concerning the wall colors in our home...which really stinks considering that we've finally almost completed painting our entire home after two long years of remodeling...i guess it's possible that two years ago i was a different person than i am now, and that my design aesthetic is always evolving...i actually may just have to accept the fact that i will forever be painting and re-painting our walls because as soon as i think im "done" with a room, i feel restless again and find myself re-designing a perfectly fine space, switching out furniture, re-arranging furniture, and now...re-painting walls...i'm pretty sure it's one of the downfalls of loving interior design...this incessant need to be changing up one's home...which brings me to this post's inspo..the grand budapest hotel by wes anderson...
it's been a while since I last posted, so this post will be extra long... was in NYC for a week to visit family and then traveled to Massachusetts for the brimfield antique show which i was dying to attend for like ever...and since i've gotten back i've been super busy with my latest projects...which i will post updates on soon...but for now keep reading to check out my travel pics...needless to say brimfield was amaaazziingg, and an antique lover's heaven...
the hotel emma, designed by the amazing roman and williams...is the talk of san antonio lately...the design studio duo has turned what used to be an old 19th century brewery into an inviting hotel...left behind, are the concrete beams, exposed pipes, and old machinery...vintage leather sofas, and antiqued custom tile work are just some of the things that brought together this stunning, rustic and eclectic space... keep reading to see more of the magnificent transformation...
for quite some time now i've really been enamored with the look of free-standing storage cabinets in the kitchen...this look has been popping up more and more lately, especially with the trend of the slow disappearance of upper cabinets in the kitchen...the storage furniture acts as much needed, added storage, and also as a way to bring in charm and interest to what might be, a cookie-cutter, standard kitchen...
with the weather warming up, i've really been wanting to refresh our home's curb appeal...especially the front doors...i've been debating between high-gloss black and high-gloss green...both options appeal to me for different reasons....today's post is my collection of the glossy black option -inspo pics...
mural wallpaper is making a comeback...in a new and fresh way...especially landscape murals...what used to grace the walls of historic buildings and homes are now being seen more and more in modern-looking rooms, and less formal spaces...
lately i've been scouring pinterest looking for inspo...really wanting to revamp/complete our dining room...and i've been going back and forth between traditional/conventional/formal, vs. something a little unconventional...like using church pews in place of regular chairs....
came across this elegant beauty in elle decor...a Nashville mansion designed by Chad James Group...the owners of the home approached James and his team looking to update the entire home...the inspiration for the redesign came from the owners' own collection of fine art and antiques...check out more photos of the home below...

our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. it is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us...we are all meant to shine...and as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people the permission to do the same. as we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. |
